Letter to the Editor/Monterey County Herald: Congratulations to Britain’s Labour Party for their resounding victory over the long-ruling Conservative Party. My question is, why can’t we have a Labor Party here? The Democratic Party once filled that role, but both parties now rely on billionaires and corporations to finance their campaigns. The Republican Party is hopeless, but ideally the Democratic Party might wake up and realize working people, the middle and lower classes, and labor unions should be their true constituents.
